Intern Spotlight – Ashley Murray

This winter U.S. Representative Jeff Denham (R-Turlock) welcomed Miss Ashley Murray onto his staff.  The 23 year-old Maryland native began her internship in his Washington, D.C., office in January.

Ashley is one of two interns currently working in Denham’s D.C. office.  She assists with a variety of duties, including drafting briefing summaries for staff, assisting with constituent correspondence and conducting tours of the U.S. Capitol for visiting constituents.  In addition to her office responsibilities, Ashley is most interested in learning about energy, congressional ethics, military and veterans issues.

“It’s always an honor to welcome such hardworking young men and women to my staff for the unique opportunity to gain firsthand knowledge of the federal legislative process,” said Rep. Denham.  “Ashley has been a go-getter from day one and has been able to tackle any project my staff gives her.  Her amazing work ethic and determination will take her far in life, and I’m certain she will have a great career ahead of her on Capitol Hill.”

“I was excited to work for Congressman Denham after reading up on his strength on veterans’ issues,” said Miss Murray.  “This experience has meant a great deal to me.  Not only have I enjoyed the knowledge and experience I’ve gained, but I love working with Congressman Denham’s amazing staff and meeting all of the wonderful constituents who come to visit.”

Miss Murray is a graduate of Salisbury University in Maryland, where she majored in Political Science.  In addition to the time she spends interning in Congressman Denham’s office, Ashley maintains a separate job and enjoys spending time with her family and young niece.  She is truly a dedicated and hard worker and spends four hours a day commuting to and from D.C. on the days she interns.  Her goal is to find a job on Capitol Hill, and from there, move forward to where life takes her.

Ashley is the daughter of Randy and Cheryl Murray.
