Denham to Present Modesto VA Clinic with Transport Vans in Key Ceremony

Jul 1, 2013 Issues: Veterans

MODESTO, Calif. — On Tuesday, July 2, 2013, at 11 a.m., U.S. Representative Jeff Denham (R-Turlock) will participate in the presentation of keys to two Veteran Transport Vans for use by the Modesto VA Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC).

“These two vans will provide much-needed support for our veteran community in Modesto,” said Rep. Denham. “Working to meet the needs of those who bravely served our country is one of my top priorities.”

Working with local veterans, community leaders and the VA Palo Alto Volunteer Services, Rep. Denham helped to secure the vans in an effort to assist veterans who have special needs or transportation restrictions, often making them unable to travel to their medical appointments on their own.

Rep. Denham will be joined at the presentation by Elizabeth (Lisa) Joyce Freeman, director of the VA Palo Alto Health Care System.

“These vans are critically important in our efforts to improve access to VA care for veterans,” said Director Freeman. “Congressman Denham’s efforts have improved our ability to care for hundreds of veterans with restricted mobility who cannot drive themselves to their appointments.”

Rep. Denham, an Air Force Veteran and the only member of the House Veterans Affairs Committee from the Valley, appreciates the hard work, patience and diligent efforts of community members who worked to make this a success.
