Denham Holds Free Grant Writing Workshop in Tracy

Oct 11, 2013

TRACY, Calif. — The Office of U.S. Representative Jeff Denham (R-Turlock) today held a free grant writing workshop at the Tracy Transit Station to help 10th district non-profits and local governments effectively pursue state, foundational and federal grants. Joaquin Valley Rural Development Center staff shared tools to effectively research, prepare and manage compelling grant applications. The event was coordinated through the collaborative efforts of the Office of Community & Economic Development at Fresno State, San Joaquin Valley Rural Development Center, the United States Economic Development Administration, Small Communities Network and the City of Tracy.

“The grant writing process can often be confusing for organizations unfamiliar with it,” said Rep. Denham. “Myself and my office are here to help – that’s what events like today’s are all about.”

“Workshops like this provide not only much needed practice for an important skillset, but also remind staffers like us that we are not alone, that we can and should be banding together to promote the well-being of the Central Valley,” said Bryce Dias, program manager of the Great Valley Center in Modesto and workshop participant.

This afternoon’s event was the first of its kind hosted by Rep. Denham’s office. The grant workshop will continue as an annual event.
