Denham to Serve as Keynote Speaker at Modesto VA Clinic Ribbon Cutting
WASHINGTON, DC — U.S. Representative Jeff Denham (R-Turlock) today announced the upcoming Ribbon Cutting Ceremony of the Veterans Community Based Outpatient Clinic in Modesto, California on Friday, February 8, 2013.
The new location of the Modesto Community Based Outpatient Clinic, expected to open later this month, is more than double the size of the current clinic and offers expanded services for veterans. Rep. Denham is scheduled to be the keynote speaker and will be in attendance along with other local civic, government and healthcare professionals.
Media are invited to attend the ceremony, which will include remarks from political, civic and facility leadership; a Purple Heart pinning ceremony for a Modesto veteran; an aircraft ceremonial flyover; ribbon cutting and open house.
The flyover will be piloted by Former USMC Aviator Vince Nastro in his privately-owned T-34 Mentor, and the honorary co-pilot for the flyover will be Iraq and Afghanistan combat veteran and former USMC GySgt Randall Reyes, who is an outreach specialist with the Modesto Vet Center.
Additionally, Rep. Denham will present Hospital Corpsman Third Class Joseph D. Jackson, United States Navy, with the Purple Heart Medal issued for injuries he sustained in combat in Operation Iraqi Freedom. Jackson, a Modesto native, suffered a traumatic brain injury on May 31, 2006 when an IED exploded beneath the engine of his unit’s Humvee while on patrol.
