Representative Jeff Denham says now is the time to put people back to work. This morning the Labor Department reported that the unemployment rate rose to 9.2 percent in June. With double-digit unemployment in his district, Rep. Denham says it’s simple, we have the natural resources to get people back to work and we must use them. Denham issued the following statement:
“In the face of a $14 trillion debt and a 9.2% national unemployment rate, we must reign in spending and provide accountability for the American people. It’s simple, we have the resources to get people working again and we need to use them. With consistent double-digit unemployment in my district, we must maximize domestic energy production, bring water to the Valley, increase our timber harvest and reduce regulatory burdens and get serious about putting people back to work to turn our economy around.” – Representative Jeff Denham (CA-19)
Look Ahead: Next week Rep. Denham, Chairman of the Subcommittee on Economic Development, Public Buildings and Emergency Management, will hold a hearing to address the cost to the nation if we do not better manage our natural resources and correctly prepare for natural disasters.
