Trump may try to use infrastructure as leverage

MY CUP OF TEA: Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao met on Capitol Hill with nearly four dozen Republicans on Wednesday morning as part of a getting-to-know-you session hosted by the GOP Conference. House Transportation Chairman Bill Shuster mentioned the hour-long session at a committee hearing Wednesday, reiterating that the administration’s infrastructure plan will have a “federal component” and that public-private partnerships will be just one “tool in the toolbox.”
Were there icebreakers? Republicans we surveyed said Chao didn’t betray any new details. “It was more of a meet-and-greet and an opportunity for members to talk about some of the issues around the country and get to know her a little bit better and more of her philosophy rather than just an overall package,” Rep. Jeff Denham (R-Calif.) said.
