2014 Congressional Art Competition
I’m pleased to announce the Congressional Art Competition for 2014 in California’s 10th district including San Joaquin and Stanislaus Counties.
All high school students in my district are encouraged to participate by submitting their artwork.
Please click here to find out more about the official guidelines.
All artwork and signed release forms must be delivered to my Modesto offices no later than April 10, 2013 by 5:00 pm. Artwork that does not meet all the requirements will not be displayed. Submitted artwork will be displayed at a location in Modesto which will be announced in March. Judging will take place during the week of April 21, 2014, and a reception and press conference will be scheduled to announce the winners.
The first place winner will have his or her artwork displayed in the annual national exhibition in the Cannon Tunnel in the United States Capitol. The first place winner’s artwork will remain on display in Washington, D.C. for one year. The second and third place winners will have the opportunity to display their art in my Modesto office.
The first place winner will have the opportunity to fly to Washington, D.C. for the reception and announcement of the National Winner.
I hope aspiring art students will take this opportunity to share their talents with the 10th Congressional District, as well with our nation.
If you have any questions, please contact our project coordinator, Nancy Deckard, in my Modesto Office at (209) 579-5458.
The Congressional Art Competition began in 1982 to provide an opportunity for members of Congress to encourage and recognize the artistic talents of their young constituents. Since then, over 650,000 high school students have been involved with the nation-wide competition. Over 50 parents, students and staff were in attendance for the awards ceremony following the event.
